The Foundation provides financial support to UK tribology academics and researchers who wish to attend tribology and related conferences or participate in other relevant activities.
-
The maximum that can be requested by any one applicant is £1,500.
-
Awards are normally restricted to research students, post-docs or academic staff under the age of 50 working at UK universities.
-
Funding is available to cover the cost of travel costs (economy air or rail) accommodation and conference registration for meetings to be held no more than 12 months later than the date of application. The Fund cannot consider retrospective applications.
The funds set aside by the Foundation are limited and as such we cannot guarantee that all eligible applications will be successful. The Foundation will exercise its discretion in differentiating between successful and unsuccessful applications but in general multiple applications from the same institution will have lower priority than single applications.
Closing dates for applications are usually 31 March and 30 September each calendar year.
For the time being applications should consist of no more than one page (11 or 12 point) stating the purpose of the travel and the level of support requested and be submitted to either Professor John Williams: jaw@eng.cam.ac.uk , Professor Hugh Spikes: h.spikes@imperial.ac.uk or Professor H P Evans: pwtevans@gmail.com as a .pdf attachment.
Reimbursement for successful applications will be made upon receipt of evidence of the expenses incurred.
